Marching Into April Showers 2026
When you see this, you are most likely thinking of the seasonal expression "April showers bring May flowers" right? π In the case of parts of Ontario, the last day of March has been raining on and off all day. π§ During the wee hours of the morning there was a severe thunder storm that was so intense, numerous people, myself as witness, felt an intense vibration in the house! π±⛈ And even now as I type this the rain is coming down hard. πΆ I hear some rumbles... More lightning is on the way. ⚡
3 Months Into Year 2026 Why U No Upload?!
π³π³π³ Alright, alight, you want a proper, adult-like explanation, right? π
No, I am not dead. No, I am not quitting. No, I have not forgotten about Guuzaka and Atazaka. Wrestling with the unproductivity rut has been a long, grueling fight, but I have not surrendered! π€π

Precisely What You See
Slack September is exactly that: the fact that my productivity towards my brands has not been as high as it should have been. π³ Well, while there were no uploads, that does not mean that I have actually been totally still. The complete opposite! Ready for some good-bad news? I have entirely cleared the ground work for the Atazaka brand from Year 2023 up to present, September 2025. π²π€―π± Yes, for real. No, it was not exactly easy, but I figured that due to light nature of Atazaka, it made strategic sense to free him from video debt, to make things more streamlined for his heavy-duty, flagship brother, Guuzaka. Alright, so what is the bad news? Well, a good chunk of the Atazakan videos are... Not exciting. πΆ It was not until after revisiting the videos, that I realised I was dumping too many boring online grocery unboxings onto him, without enough fun videos to balance that out. π³
Thankfully, I took matters into my hands to make Atazaka fun again in Year 2025. π₯³ So yes, that was quite a bit about Atazaka, what about Guuzaka? π€ You can expect uploads from the Green Boy in November 2025. Worst case scenario December 2025. That might sound like hell-of-a-long-time, but I would prefer to keep estimates realistic. You should know me by know. And if you are new here, welcome, be a good viewer, and now you know. π Now this leads to a serious question you must asking, "How long are you going to keep going with months before uploading?" In my entry last month, I went into vast detail about my 10-month productivity hiatus, and getting back onto my feet. The big gap uploading cycle I hope to be largely done away with before the end of Year 2025. π
National Day For Truth And Reconciliation
Indigenous peoples, I send my virtual love to you for NDFTAR 2025. π€ In fact, I believe I have an outdoor video or 2 in the pipeline from the latter years of an Indigenous item detailing this. π²

What The Junk?
What junk? My effort towards getting videos out this month. Well, actually, I did finally break the upload dormancy last week over at Atazaka. π± Yes, because time was about to hit 2 years since I last uploaded over there. Therefore, earlier last week when I contemplated between whether or not I was going to upload content under the Red Boy or Green Boy, it was only fair that I showed a little love to the Red Boy. π So if uploaded to Atazaka last week, what could this possibly mean for Guuzaka in July? π€ If you guessed videos uploads, you are correct! π₯³ Yes, for real. Finally.

15 Years Of Guuzaka
15 Years ago, this brand was born. π± Back in those days, his name was ATA1201058. Later, GuuzakaTube. Dropped the "Tube" and become the present Guuzaka. π’π Brand Questions Question #4: What is the point of Atazaka's existence when you can just make the same type of videos under Guuzaka? For the curious that want a more detailed history of both Guuzaka and Atazaka, If you do not already know. π€ Since I brought up Atazaka, those of you familiar with him will know that he turns 5 today. π°π₯³
Seeing this brand turn 15 makes me feel a little old, even though I am not quite "old" yet. π
The 1st thing I decided to do in acknowledgement of this day, was make a short Tweet on Bluesky about it. π΅ Yes, I now have a Bluesky account. I deleted my Xitter accounts right at the beginning of December 01, 2024. π 0 regrets. π When Twitter become Xitter, and there were constant unpleasant changes being made to the platform, I knew it was time to stop. π Not sure why Mister Musk could not do better things with $44,000,000,000 United States Dollars, but that is a whole other subject on its own. If Xitter works for you, and you still enjoy it, hey, you do you. π As long as you are not hurting yourself or anybody else, Xweet to your heart's content. π€
Other than making a few media post like this one, I do not have anything special planned for this, though I wish I did. π At the time of this writing, I have 948 videos on YouTube, 166 blog posts on Blogger, and 1000s of photographs on Instagram. π¨
If things go well and certain stubborn roadblocks clear, I would love to clear a significant backlog of unedited content. π₯ I kid you not, I have 100s of videos, and 1000s of photographs I have yet to touch. π² In the meantime, enjoy the present content available till I get around to uploading more content on these platforms. If you took the time to come here, thank you for celebrating 15 Years of Guuzaka, and 5 years of Atazaka. π’ππ°π΄

Last Day Of The Month
At least 1 blog post per month, right? π Well, I certainly have not done a good job with that thus far in Year 2024. To date, I have only done 4 blog posts: April, May, July, and now this one. π³ I will need to do my best to try and make sure something is done not just for the remaining months of the year, but going forward in general. In my April blog post this year, I went into good detail about the importance of not having your identity and livelihood tied to 1 platform. In summary, if that platform just deletes your account, you are screwed. π
So yes, Autumn has come upon us 8 days ago in the northern hemisphere. π If you know me already, you will damn well know that I do not look forward to cooler weather, but alas! I live in Canada where 4 distinct seasons exist, although some parts of the country are technically only winter and cold spring weather-wise. π₯Ά Northern Nunavut, particularly Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord come to mind. π₯Ά
Yes, I realise that today also happens to be National Day For Truth And Reconciliation. Not going to lie; I forgot what the main theme of that day is supposed to be about. π³ I know that it has to do with some sort of Indigenous recognition, but upon refreshing my memory with a Google Search I learned that the day honours the children who died and Survivors of residential schools. π₯ Heartbreaking indeed. π And you know, or actually perhaps it is better not to even mention what I just saw first thing on Reddit a little earlier, but here we go: a deranged racist farmer mowed a little black 6-year-old boy down in front of his mother whilst she screamed in horror. π¬ I thought he died when I first read the headline, but I did not look to closely at what was said. That article turned me off so bad, that I just left the website shortly. But, upon talking about dead or abused children in residential schools, this topic reminded of that poor little boy. π
"Gosh darn it, Guuzaka! Why the hell did you have to mention that?! That is so revolting!" I know, I know. That is just plain awful! Why people continue to abuse children, or even people in general is beyond me. π₯ Orange shirts are cool, but everyday is important for keeping the general peace and not abusing people, especially vulnerable people like children. π
My Latest Videos
10 days ago, I finally uploaded the latest batch of videos to my channel. Felt like forever, but at least I finally finished that batch. You may be wondering why all 18 of those videos are Beyblade Xtreme content, as opposed to February 2022's batch? π€¨ You see, I intended for those videos to come out a bit sooner, but due to a myriad of things I talked about in past entries, I was not able to edit and upload as fast as I would like to. π Beyblade Xtreme is the latest, hottest thing in the Battle Top world right now. π₯ I have certainly noticed how quickly it has been growing other channels. I have even noticed how my views, visitors, and subscribers have steadily gone up. Nothing record-breaking by any means, but growth is growth. π± This is why I did not want to leave that batch of videos till when I get around to uploading 2024 videos.
Now, does this mean that I am going to forsake all my others videos and allocate all my resources and time to Beyblade Xtreme? π€ Certainly not! In fact, now that I have completed this batch of Beyblade videos that I have codenamed Beyblade Xtreme December 2023 To June 2024, I would like to begin editing the February 2022 batch realistically towards the end of next week.
Year 2024 End Targets
500 or more subscribers on YouTube before Year 2024 ends? As tempted as I am to say 1000, I am not too sure if that is too realistic. Possible? Yes. Likely? Not too likely. 100 or more views per Blogger upload? π Not impossible, but perhaps not too likely? π€¨ I made the mistake last time of not posting some of previous entries to Instagram, and my other social networks, which could very well explain why they could not even get past 20 views at the time of this very writing. π Even for a Nano-sized brand like mine, we can all agree that not even getting at least 50 is pretty damn bad. π³ But you know? I am also very careful that when talking about views to remind viewers that big views overnight is not what I am aiming for. An audience that actually engages with the content is far more important to my brand's growth and stability. π
I may be able to upload 2 batches, but could I do 3 batches of videos before year end? π€ Considering that the February 2022 batch alone has 20 videos, getting even 2 might be a stretch. So, 99% certainly not 3. Do I have any particular goals for Instagram? Not really, to be super honest. Maybe spend just slightly more time on it, as so to not make my presence there seem too irrelevant. Oh yes, Patreon and Ko-fi! π°π€ I am surprised I have not mentioned either of those 2 in my entries this year. Or did? I cannot recall doing so, so I will talk about them a little now. If you do love my content, and want to show continual support, and are excited about what may become of Guuzaka Atazaka, consider becoming a patron on my Patreon. Not into subscriptions? That is totally understandable, hence where my Ko-fi comes into play. There, you can send one-time payments instead.
Overall, using the analogy of meat and potatoes, YouTube would be the meat, and Blogger the potatoes in terms of my focus and growth at this time. ππ₯
Infinity Nado
"Seriously, Guuzaka what are you onto?" Or "What is that?" you must have said in your mind or perhaps even out loud. Chances are, if you have been on the channel, looked around, and bonus points, even checked out the playlists, you see that things that spin like Beyblades, Infinity Nado, and fidget spinners have their own playlist. So naturally, Infinity Nado has been on my mind, but yet you still do not see them on my channel just yet. Why I so randomly mention them, is because I had intended to start filming at least 1 video with them per month in 2024. The result? I only did 2 videos all the way back in February. π And on top of it, I do not recall being too personally proud of those videos. π³
If I were to ever get my hands on Infinity Nado 6, that would be sweet! π€© Too bad they still have not released locally: online nor brick-and-mortar. And by online, I am talking like Amazon Canada or Walmart Canada. You can buy them straight from Alpha Group on AliExpress, however. I was under the impression that when Beyblade Xtreme launched last year, that they would have tried to rival them by shortly launching to North American stores, but nope! π Looks like Alpha Group really does not want to bother with that for this generation. Who knows. They might just surprise us and launch locally in Year 2025. π²
Autumn Marketing
This particular section is solely for me to do some shameless affiliate marketing about some on-going eBay sale events for my viewers in Canada, United States Of America, and Australia. Do not worry, I am not going to talk about things I have absolutely no interest in just for the sake of getting clicks and affiliate commissions upon your qualified purchases. π Fellow Canadians, there is unfortunately not a whole lot going on, but Lenovo is offering eBay-certified refurbished products. I personally own a pair of Lenovo wireless mice in red and blue. π΄π΅
Could care less about Lenovo? You might be more excited about Jordans. π I have yet to personally unbox Jordans, but I have done other shoe brands before.
Americans, there is TONS I could talk about, but I will stick with 3 things for you Eagles: cell phones under $250, eBay refurbished Apple computers, and fine jewelry. π Admittedly, I selected fine jewelry just for fun and giggles, but who knows: maybe you were about to conveniently buy some! π
G'day, my Oceanian mates! π¦ eBay is oddly having more sales events for you Australians than Canadians. Kind of odd given that eBay is North American company, but perhaps they get more revenue from you? π€¨ I personally do not know. Save up to $400* on a great Dyson range, Up to 45% off phones, and Fashion Aussie brands you love, will be what I will share with you this entry.
September Close-off
Nothing more I particularly have that I want to discuss further. I shall now tidy this entry, have it posted, then shared to my social media accounts. π Did any Indigenous people by any chance stumble across this post? π€¨ If you did, let me know, and tell me which tribe you are from if you do not mind. π

September 1st Entry
GuuzakaTube 2017-09-01
September 1st Entry
Happy 2017 September 1st! Wait, is there something special about this day? Nah, not really, but just felt like making a quick post for today. You know what's happening on September 5th for most Canadians and perhaps some others? Back to school and work for those that had the summer off! Well, I'm not in school, nor did I have a summer vacation...ππ Anyways! Whether it be work, school or something else, are you excited for whatever things lie ahead this month?
Oh, and about this week's videos.... Heh, heh, heh, I'll try and get those typed up on Monday or Tuesday. π
Though there'll be links and discussions on them next week, I'll put up links here anyway.
Stay Tuned!π

Southeast Courtice Adventure
GuuzakaTube
06/09/17
Ah,
and southern Ontario is finally
seeing
some days of proper
warmth! No
14°C-17°C, but temperatures of like 23°C-27°C! YES
MAN! As
a result of the good warmth, I've been enjoying the outdoors a little
more, with evidence coming from the four videos brought to you from
the early June 2017, southeast Courtice trip. Let's discuss those
videos and a few other things.
So
this is the first place I've targeted for this adventure. To get
here, I decided to start from Roy Nichols Motors Limited, went south
on Courtice Road, turned on Sandringham Drive, turned again on
Avondale Drive, and kept walking until I found Lydia Trull. While I
enjoyed walking around this school and exploring its spacious areas,
I hated the fact that the video came out slightly blurry despite
being shot in 1080p, and the fact that I had to remove the audio. I
also hated how I still
didn't hold the camera high enough! You'll
hear me hilariously complain about that again at the end of the
Methodist Church video. Some might say “Just junk the footage
altogether!” or “Stop
showing these segments if you're not going to get it done right!”
Yes, I could just junk it, but you've been gracefully given the
options to skip them with warning slides letting you know where to
skip to for the best bits. It's something that will get better with
time, so I keep these as reminder to show how and where to improve.
Besides, as bad as some of them are, they could be much worse. Nobody
has honestly complained about any of this to date, so this is
truthfully just me self-lecturing more than anything at this point.
I'm sure they would have if the channel had enough traffic, hence why
I need to point these dreadful faults out and let you know that I do
have intentions to improve. Anyways! That's been enough of that, so
let's move onto the next school: Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary
School!
So
because these places were so close to one another, I filmed myself
walking to the next
destination after finishing the previous. Unlike the Lydia Trull
video, this video actually lived more up to my expectations in terms
of resolution and audio, so you won’t hear me bickering about how
garbage-like the video was! Video technicalities aside, this school
was also more interesting to walk around too. It seems like it was
seemingly larger or maybe it just had more walls and corners to give
it that feel. Like the other Courticean schools, this one also had
large fields and lots of garden beds around the area. You see, things
like this with the combination of the warm weather is just what makes
photography and filming so much more interesting. Hilariously, while
I was at one of the entrances doing some photography, I gave a pair
walking their dog a
slight spook! Not intentionally, but I guess they
were really surprised
to see a suspicious-looking man fishing around the gardens and
must've been wondering why that was so. Now let us laugh out loud?
No? Ok, let's discuss the next place that's literally right next to
Good Shepherd: God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit!
Alright,
so you all obviously know that I did not catch the Holy Trinity in
physical action (that would be such a fateful encounter!), but I did
film a high school named after the trio's collective term: Holy
Trinity. Right off the bat, you'll notice that this video undesirable
audio which was replaced with my marvellous narrations. It
also suffered a bit from that HDR illusionary bounce.
Video nitpicks aside, this was a very interesting high school to walk
around. It was huge, had a lot of corners and walls, a
big field, a
big track, jungle of portables, and then you had a motorbike event
taking place in one of the parking lots. Cool indeed. How does this
school compare to Courtice
Secondary School?
No idea about the interiors because I've never been inside either of
them, but I do have to give more props to this one for being the more
interesting of the two to walk around. Unfortunately, I did not
explore the Holy Trinity's track, nor did I cover the road leading
out to Courtice road, but the video and trip was still interesting
enough in its own rights. After filming this place, I walked to
another more distant,
but close enough church in the area.
Ah,
yes! It's been a while since I've done a church walkaround, so I was
pleased to see that not only did this place happen to be close to the
Holy Trinity, but was also vacant at the time of its filming. Mind
you though, despite the fact they're both religious buildings, the
Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School is affiliated with the Roman
Catholic Church, while this church is affiliated with Methodism, as
the name suggests. Anyways! You know these buildings have nothing to
do with one another from the names and location. Though the actual
walkaround was brief, it was a pretty, tidy church to walk around. In
the 3rd
segment where I explore the back, they even happen to have what looks
like a detached house in the back parking lot, solely dedicated for
winter related weather. Never quite seen anything like that to
date! Shows how much they care about keeping their property
presentable and accessible. I was curious about what lied beyond the
back bushes,
but obviously didn't venture off due to concerns of wondering onto
forbidden zones!
Windows
10 Creator's Update Complaints
Finally!
A place where I can ramble in length about how irritating the Spring
2017 Creator's Update is! Like all regular Windows 10 Home editions,
your updates are forced, with only little flexibility to delay it for
a week or so! The next thing I hated is the fact that after the
update finished, I tried to log in only to be treated with a black
screen! Are you kidding you me?! I tried waiting for 15 minutes or
so, to see if anything would improve, but nope! Nothing. I then had
to Google on my phone for fixes and known causes of this. Turned
out that I wasn't alone, and that this was known as the “Creator's
Blackscreen of Death!” The last time I saw a “Screen of Death”
was when I was using an old computer a few years ago running Windows
Vista. Those were the days of frequent
Bluescreen Deaths! Thankfully, I've never seen a Bluescreen of Death
on this Windows 10-powered Dell *Touch wood*. Anyways, I resorted to
restarting the computer and that luckily fixed it and brought
everything back to normal. Sheesh! What a pain! Another thing I hate
is the fact that it
did nothing
to
help performance, rather it was sluggish at first, until eventually
returning to normal speeds! Mind you, my PC is a quad core, Intel i7
powered setup, so Microsoft is to blame to here! Another thing I hate
is that this update isn't even as exciting as the name suggests! I
watched I
of it sometime ago, and have long forgotten about what good it was
supposed to be. Groove
Music Maker, My People, Improved Notification Center, Windows Capture
3D, and OneDrive Placeholders are examples of things that have been
axed from the Spring update. I admittedly don't care about the list
of the things mentioned (except Groove Music Maker), but still!
That's a pretty serious load of things that didn't make it in time!
Another thing I hate is the fact that items in folders viewed under
extra large, large, medium and small icons have
gone back to automatically arranging! Before,
you could have this disabled in Windows 7-10, but since the Creator's
Update, you can no longer freely rearrange them the way you want! How
annoying, bossy and controlling! Why did they feel the need to even
touch that? Let us
choose how we want to arrange our files regardless of the view! And
the final thing I will complain about for this segment is how
BlackBerry Link no
longer works! That's
right. Still using a BlackBerry Z10, Q10, Classic, Porsche 9883 or
Passport? Admittedly, not very many people are, but you will notice
that BlackBerry
Link
will no longer work! Thankfully,
you
can still transfer files from your smartphone to your computer and
vice versa.
Instead, you'll just have to go to My PC and then click on the folder
that represents BlackBerry's drive to export or import files. Ok, so
to
be fair, that's more so BlackBerry's fault for being so darn
negligent towards BlackBerry 10 and not updating it frequently
enough! Update your BlackBerry 10 devices' software and compatibility
already, or just be honest and call it quits! Many strongly believe
that BlackBerry 10 is already done, despite the company's so-called
commitment.
Commitment
my foot! Microsoft is another one with terrible commitment
to their own smartphones, as seen in the Windows 10 Mobile Creator's
update where smartphones
like the Nokia Lumia 930, 830 and 1520 were left behind, while the
weaker Lumia 640 and 650 gets it. Such a strange logic... yes they're
newer devices, but their chips are still weaker! Ok, that's enough
ranting for this Spring 2017 Creator's Update. What
do you hate about the Creator's Update? Let me know in the comments
below!
On
Twitter recently I've posted the following: “Decisions.
Some are easy; some are not.”
The reason behind
that, was
that
I was
faced with the decision of either a) putting the automotive
commentary
video together today to have it uploaded, or b) typing up this blog
entry. As much as I wanted to get that grossly overdue commentary out
of the way, I knew that I wouldn't get it done in time, so I decided
to just go with the blog entries for the videos from last weekend to
avoid doing two adventurous write-ups during the weekday. Well, guess
what? I didn't even manage to get this entry done in time anyway, so
now it's going to be delayed to Monday (busy over the weekend) before
I upload everything to social media! Darn it! My whipper I hired from
June 1st
hasn't been whipping the slackness out of me hard enough – kidding!
That didn't happen. But seriously though. I had intentions to have
this entry done for Friday, so I could dedicate Monday to getting the
automotive commentary done, but now I'm going to have to take part of
it get this done.... Really, really annoyed with myself about this...
Now I know, I know, this is seemingly trivial compared to other
issues, but still: targets, completions and deadlines, whether they
be for more serious things, or lesser things, are something you
should try to consistently
get right! Consistency
is key. Aside
from delays and missed targets, what is next? Well, I plan to film
some outdoor videos over the weekend as usual. However,
instead
of editing them on Monday, priority will be placed
on putting up this post and videos on social media, and then
hopefully getting the
ridiculously
overdue commentary complete! Once that's finally put together, I'll
then proceed to editing them on Tuesday, or even Wednesday if I have
to. There was also plans to do a post on a response to YouTube videos
this week, but given that there wasn't even time to get this finished
for the slated date, that of course didn't happen. I'll have to keep
that in mind for next week as well. So yeah, as you can tell from
reading this part, there's hopefully going to be a lot happening on
my
YouTube channel and the social media accounts affiliated
with it. I'll have to tell my professional whipper to go full force
to make damn sure all of this happens!!! Oh, speaking of accounts,
you'll now see a link to my DeviantArt page for the rare drawings
associated
to the equally rare videos you'll see on the channel. The other new
link would be to my photobucket page, which currently has nothing,
and probably won't have much for now, as it serves only for direct
links to
images and possible requests. There are no smartphone hands-ons this
entry, but does anyone even care about that? Hard to tell without
voices, but I think it's a nice addition.

May 17, 2017 Entry
GuuzakaTube 05/17/17
It's
a warm, sunny Wednesday where I am. Quite liking that. Finally a day
that's 20°C+! For some of
you, depending on where you are, you experience
warm weather just about everyday. For
others, it can feel like a rarity at this time of the year. Anyways!
Let's discuss the 3
recent
videos I filmed. That's right; three. “But I only see two on the
channel? Where's the third, GuuzakaTube?” Read below to find out!
Eastdale
Eagles. Why is it that every school with that name, has to have an
eagle theme? Coincidence? Corny? Lack of imagination or original
creativity? Who knows. All I can tell you, is that this place was a
large, fun, scenic building to walk around. Well, by “scenic” I
guess I should specify and say what
exactly made it scenic.
You have a large field, likely shared by neighbouring
Vincent Massey, lots of big grass patches, a large park across the
road, and another one further south of their track. Nothing amazing,
but if you wander around the area, you'll have a much better
understanding of the Harmony-Adelaide area. You
will quickly realize how many “hidden” forest paths and parks
there are, if you explore it properly and know where to look. As for
the Eastdale building itself, there's nothing extraordinary about its
architecture, but its a big school that had a lot of interesting
corners and crevices for me to wander around and photograph. I had a
few silly suspicions about some of them, but thankfully, there was
nothing present to be legitimately concerned about. I know. Laugh
at me as you will. I was a little surprised to see that giant track
virtually vacant, considering that you normally have a person or two,
running or walking around it. During this visit, I only saw maybe a
dog owner or two to the north. Let's just hope those dogs didn't poo
on the eagle's racetrack or they won't pleased! I didn't see any “no
dogs” sign that I normally see on other school's
property,
but I'm pretty sure they don't permit them. Not that people listen to
the signs anyway! They'll
go right ahead and walk their dogs on school property when the
schools are closed!
Eastdale's
neighbour. While I've seen plenty of high schools that had elementary
schools close to them, this one is only merely separated by a fence
with several openings for the Eagles and Vincents to wander onto each
others property in seconds.
Bad thing? Certainly not! Well, at least for the most part. It makes
the transition from Grade 8 to 9 for these guys remarkably easy,
since they're
super close to each other. Anyways! What did I think of this little
school? I found it quite alright. Not as interesting as some of the
other elementary zones I've visited, but it has its charms. For
Vincent Massey, that would be the things I saw in the windows. I saw
some weird things, cute things, typical things and all sorts of other
things you may, or may not expect to see at a school. Heh, so
important I did this while it was closed! Anyways,
so I guess that's all I
have to say about this
place, so let's discuss the 3rd
mysterious missing video, shall we?
Dead
Adelaide-Harmony-King Walk
Yes!
What you see in the title was exactly what this video was supposed to
be about: a walk along a portion of Adelaide Avenue, Harmony Road and
King Street. Disappointing? Very disappointing! Like seriously, why
did the phone have to die without saving the video? This used to be
something that was usually
an issue during
the winter
when certain precautions weren't performed,
but what's the smartphone's excuse now? The battery died while it had
at least 30% left in it. For real?! This battery isn't even the old
one anymore, but a “newer” one. By newer, it's not “2017 fresh”
but I believe that it was bought in either 2015 or 2016 as a
supplementary battery to the internal one it shipped with. It is from
the original equipment manufacturer,
BlackBerry, and was brought brand new, but to be fair, going through
cycles over 2 years I guess causes it lose calibration,
but cutting off
at 30% though? Sometimes it'll be willing to cut off at
something lower like 15% or 10%, but either way, this battery is
improperly calibrated. Period. “So how many 'dead' videos do you
have now?” 5.
Thankfully, that's not very many, and 2 of them aren't overly
significant, one of them was re-filmed
altogether
(remember Westhill High School from Toronto?),
but two of them are significant. I've detailed the solutions many
times during the posts with those videos, so I don't feel like going
over it again here, other than to quickly say that it will require
expensive tools to repair them. To be honest, for this particular
situation with the AHK walk, I could have avoided it if
I had tethered
the smartphone with its charger, but alas! I didn't and suffered the
consequences
of that. Common sense; after 30+ minutes of video shooting and
photography of Eastdale and Vincent, why didn't I do that? Why did I
bother risking it with a measly 2100 mAh battery
bought 2 years ago?
What a stupid risk! Oh well. I've learned a lot over the past several
times these videos that
have died in regards to weather, timing and carrying extra power. The
days of videos dying will hopefully come
soon. It's getting increasingly rare – thank God! So I'd like to
work to make it become virtually non-existent! I
can do it!
My
Thoughts on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium based on videos
Why
am I discussing this phone? Because it's a “premium” 2017
flagship that I found interesting enough to discuss. Now aside from
the fact that it's a successor to last year's Sony Xperia Z5 Premium,
has a 4K, 5.5”(13.97cm) screen, I admittedly didn't know much else
about it, so I watched a few YouTube videos to learn more about this
Xperian flagship. In a number of ways, it's similar to its
predecessor, but is also different and better in several areas, as it
should be for a 2017 flagship. The two look similar at first glance,
but when you compare them, you'll
see their little differences. So based on what I've watched, here's
what most people seem to praise about the Sony Xperia XZ
Premium: its gorgeous HDR, 4K display, the IP68 certified water
resistance, smooth performance, excellent camera and photo features,
and its
beautiful looks and colours. What did they hate? The price tag. If
this thing ends up truly going with the reported $1145 CAD, then
that's just nuts! If they're going to tip the $1000 mark, then they
ought to throw in 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Seriously. People
have also proven that their backs
are too easily stained with fingerprints, especially in the Luminous
Chrome colour. I can agree that this would cause the phone to look
grimy and gross, so using a case or carrying a cloth would be a good
idea. I'd probably recommend using a case though. A
screen protector for the front would also be a sensible move.
Some have said that it's heavy and cumbersome
to hold
with one hand, while others say it's manageable for its size. Because
this thing isn't even released in Canada, I currently do not have the
opportunity to even toy around this. If you know me by know, I
LIKE BIG PHONES! I've
held the BlackBerry Passport, Samsung Galaxy Note 3,
4 and 5,
iPhone 6S Plus, LG G4 and many others! I enjoyed the screen estate
very much, so handling this thing won't be a problem for me. Now
another thing people pointed out was that the fingerprint sensor will
be disable once again for the American market. Not sure if they meant
North America as whole, or if it was just strictly the U.S.A, but
either
way,
that's a huge market to mistreat. Even though I don't care for it, a
lot of people clearly do, based on evidence from American YouTubers.
And finally, there's the issue with the battery. The Sony Xperia Z5
Premium had a 3430mAh cell,
while the Sony Xperia XZ Premium has a smaller 3230mAh. Wait, what?!
I don't care what kind of battery saving tricks they have up their
sleeves, but that size is not going to hold up well for such a
powerful, high-res phone. Nope, not without castrating your
performance and downgrading your screen
resolution. Again, this is why I hate this toxic, ultra-skinny,
sealed, unibodied, non-removable battery trend so much! I mean, being
sealed and unibodied is one thing, but do you have to make a
smartphone so skinny that it chokes the battery size? This smartphone
is 7.9mm thick. How bad would it be to make it 10mm thick? Sure, that
will make it heavier than it already is, but so what? It's not like
it's going to be as heavy as a brick, so I think the weight gain
would make it worth it. Finally, with bezels that big, I think that
they could have kept the navigation buttons off the screen and
put them on that
great, big chin of its! Alright so now it's time for the ultimate
question: would
I buy this phone?! Sorry,
no. When you consider the phones that are already out, and that are
to come later
this year, this phone's got some quirks and issues I've addressed
that don't make it worth it for its
price. I'd choose it over something like the HTC U Ultra, but I'd
rather go with the Samsung Galaxy S8+ or LG G6. To be fair, the
latter two are also expensive and have similar storage internals, but
they're also larger and look better in my opinion. And mentioning the
LG G6 also reminds us that the Sony
Xperia XZ Premium
doesn't have a dual camera setup. Coming
from
a company that's supposed to be camera-savvy,
it
makes you wonder why. Outside of my strange strange biases and
nitpicks, this
is still a super solid phone.
If you're tired
of Samsung, LG, Apple and what not, but want a premium phone that's a
little different, then buy it! If money, internal storage, a delicate
backside, size and weight aren't an issue, then you probably won't
regret you choice. If
you're not sure, you can probably try it in stores when it releases
in June, or from a friend or relative before you shell out $900+ on
it.
The
first thing I want to say is THANKS!
Thanks
for what exactly? Thanks for the view count on my recent Mother's Day
entry. To date, it has a higher view count than any other blog post
I've done on this blog. I don't know if it was simply the title, or
the fact that the Instagram advertisement I used for it had lovely
pink & white flowers or what, but I'm just
glad to see that my work didn't go unnoticed. Especially
when you consider that it was 4000+ words long.
Thanks again guys!
I must also encourage you to comment, if you feel like it, to let me
know what you think of the posts. Mother's Day joys aside, I plan to
continue with day-to-day things this week, and nothing much else
exciting, unfortunately. If that changes, you'll know with either
another entry or a Twitter update. I'd mention the commentary, but I
can already foresee that we won't see it this week, so I almost
didn't feel like mentioning it all it, but whatever. It's still
coming.
